Hoping and Praying~
In 30 minutes, I have an interview with the owner of one of the grocery stores in town. IF all goes well, the store will do a fundraiser for CATS. They will put a special ad in the local flyers and when a special coupon is scanned $1.00 will be put towards the CATS fund. I have already seen two of the people in charge so this is last interview. I understand the gentleman is a cat lover but he recently lost his cat in a pretty brutal way and I do not wish to stir up any bad memories for him. I didn’t get the details, but I can only imagine what might have happened to this inside/outside kitty. So I am sitting on pins and needles waiting for the appointment time. Would appreciate prayers being sent out, and who knows, perhaps his heart might be ready to adopt a kitten. We have several really wonderful kitties needing good inside-only homes!
Then at three, I meet with one of my volunteers who takes the most amazing photos of cats. I am taking 8 of the kittens with me as well as Aurora to see if I can get good photos and get these babies into a home not that I don’t love them, but our phone is still ringing with people desperate to find homes for newborn kittens- NEWBORNS in November- terrible thing!
Vaughn
I don’t think this cat has eaten in weeks! The good news is he is eating now- inhaling food so I have to be careful and feed small amounts at least 6 times a day or he will be sick. He almost bit me in his excitement when I popped open a can of food for him. He is skin and bones, his teeth are bad but at least he has them. He alternately hisses and purrs at me so hopefully when the routine is set for him and he knows food is coming at certain times every day, he will settle down a bit. There must have been mice in that building otherwise, I think he would be battling feline hepatic lipidosis. Thankfully, he is eating and he is safe from the demolition ball.
And the phone rings…
This time it is a supervisor from a demolition company. They have orders to destroy an abandoned building but doing the first walk-through, they notice a cat up in the beams. He is puzzled because supposedly the building is sealed and no one has been around there in months. They have the cat cornered in the bathroom- they have called everyone and no one will help- can I come?
I was there in thirty minutes and as a result, I now have another senior black kitty I am calling Vaughn. He is neutered! YAY! Tested negative for the all the nasties and is alternately hissing and purring at me when I visit him in the Intro cage. It is going to be really cold tonight- so he has the heated cat bed right now. There are only three and not enough to go around. But he is so skinny and under-nourished and won’t be able to handle the cold snap. I apologized to the other cats when I took their warmth away- but they have places they can go and get warmer whereas he has to stay in one place.
Estimated age about 12 years old-
He’s sitting in my lap this morning
Mr. Barnum is sitting in my lap headbumping me- he is bound and determined to give mom ringworm!LOL He was in my face this morning, yelling at me and scolding me for sleeping in. I fell asleep in the rocking chair. He was climbing all over me and it was a joy to see that God still wants him here on earth. He is just purring and I think saying thank you to me for everything. So, If I get ringworm as a result of his loving, I would say that is a good trade-off.
