Pepe Le Phew!

Last night sometime, a car hit a skunk on the road in front of our home. It apparently lost its tail in the collision and made it off the road and died under my car. 🙁  It is always so sad to see wildlife die on the road or on the side, but this enterprising girl, I think was one of the five who I saved years ago). She comes “home” every year to have her babies which is a skunk’s way. So, she crawled under the comfort of my car and passed away.  The smell was tremendous and when I hit the front door this morning, I was bowled over by its intensity. With eyes watering, I followed the source of the smell and found her gone. I had to get her out from under my car and put her in the ditch on the other side of the road so the raptors would find her. I smell terrible- my car reeks- our carport smells. Eight showers later- I still smell her lingering odor.  Thankfully, the barn cats kept their distance and Brandi was in the house so she died in peace. Poor girl. I looked for babies, but they hide them so well and there are so many blackberry bushes right now in our back pastures, I doubt I could find them. Thank God for Nature’s Miracle because I am here to tell you that tomato juice does not work.

Sweet Jordan

01jordy

She has a new home with a very nice elderly woman named Joan. Joan understands that Jordan needs space and time to adjust and has no problem allowing her to do just that. My fingers are crossed that this adoption will work because the home is out in the country and quite magnificent. Jordan will share her space with a 4 month old Russian Blue kitten by the name of Earl (for Earl Grey). Jordan will get a new name as Joan already has a grandson named Jordan and it could get confusing with the young one visits!

On behalf of Sammi and George

I want to thank all of you for making it possible for these two to remain together until the end of their days.  I will be taking his other two cats if he can’t find homes for them, but at least Senior Sammi gets to stay with the guy he loves so much.

Just received this is my email:

To all of you who donated to help us save our Sammy, thank you sooo much.  We love our boy and can’t imagine our family without him.  Thanks again for your generosity.  George & Kelly
