Another goodbye today, this one so hard on our hearts. McGee recently diagnosed with cancer is now at peace. He was euthanized at noon and more then ready to meet up with friends at the Bridge. He had gotten to the stage where he was giving me more then subtle hints that he no longer wanted to be in this life. Although his appetite was strong- nothing stayed in or down very long and he was starting to show blood clots in his urine.
We initially got him at 2 weeks of age when a clueless a** threw him out a car on Hwy 20. He ended up with us. As he grew, he showed his preference to wanting to have access to the outside world, so we moved him into the patio enclosure. he quickly established himself as the Alpha of the outside clan and I know they will be lost for awhile without him. They will find a new Alpha soon- but there will be a temporary imbalance as they adjust to his disappearance.
I wrote a check on faith to get the dirty deed done, so hoping tomorrow when I check the donation boxes there will be the $50.00 there needed for this act of love. He would have been 14 in May.
Rest easy now Sweet Boy and for all the trouble you were- you will be so missed. You have no idea how much our hearts ache right now.
Please enjoy his life in pictures
It just gets harder, caring for these little ones whose lives seem so short. McGee’s life didn’t have the length it should have, but it had the love and happiness. There are no words to comfort such a loss, so I will simply write Godspeed, McGee.
For myself, I will add that I especially like the photograph of McGee with the kittens. He looks like he’s giving a reluctant adventurer a push.
I’m so very sorry. 🙁
I am so sorry to hear this, I am sure you loved him to pieces and will miss him terribly. He was a very handsome man cat. Run free little one to take your place at the rainbow bridge, pain free with nothing but love around you. Bless you Mary Anne, I sent a little to cover your cost, wish I could do more for you.
Thanks guys, there is a big empty spot in the yard and in our hearts right now. He would always run everyone off the food until he ate his fill no matter how I tried to prevent this. He would challenge every new stray that arrived resulting in some pretty nasty injuries. He sprayed like a fireman which is why he could never be indoors very long. At the very end, he would try to get into the house at every opportunity, which sadly, I couldn’t allow and when the new kids arrived, he did nothing to challenge them. He was hungry all the time because of the stomach cancer and I was hard-pressed to keep him full enough because nothing stayed down very long. For all the trouble he caused, he was one of our favorite cats and would follow us around the pasture as we worked on our land.
we are so very sorry….and yet we know he lived a wonderful and well loved life
