With Mike’s ill health and the fact that Kodie has knocked him down several times, it was clear that we can’t keep up with her high-energy. I placed an ad for her through Fran on Petfinders and several families have looked at her. But, we didn’t feel that we had found just that right home for this 8 month old puppy. Then, we met Jim and Jolena and their 4 kids.
Kodie is now about 6 miles from us, living with the nicest family. They have 8 acres, a horse arena, 7 horses, goats, chickens and there is another dog nearby she can play with. She settled right in with them as if she had been there her entire life. They are leaving on vacation Weds. so we will watch her while they are gone. If she works out for them, then they will pick her up after they come home. If not, she gets a few days with a lot of kids who will run her butt off! They also have not one pond but two. A fish pond and a larger pond big enough Kodie can swim in it. I think it is the perfect home for her and I hope they all fall in love with her as we did.
But I can’t chance that she will knock Mike down again. He is having enough trouble walking as it is, without her slamming into him. I think with the kids running and playing with her, she is where she needs to be.
On the cat front- Dobby is now fully integrated into the house. He discovered the cat enclosure today and at first he only hid in the tunnel, then he figured out there were trees and climbing ramps and food and water out there, so he was out there the majority of the day. It’s funny that the only cat who seems to want to challenge him is Cole- maybe because they look so much alike? I don’t know, but he is out and about now and only meowing a little bit when he wants affection.
