It’s just a guess on my part

but I think Bristol is so much happier. I am able to pet her without fear of getting bit- so I am sure those mats were making her a cranky girl-

On another note, Sheba and Truman went off to loving homes tonight!

  1. You might try putting the carrier in the room she is in with the door open. Put a treat or toy there and just leave it. It might give her a chance to see that it’s not trying to eat her. And she looks so very happy and relaxed now.

  2. I agree with Marian: leave the carrier lying about with the door open. Let Bristol get used to it. But for now, she looks happy enough. And the fact that she lets you pet her shows that she probably is the sort to like that and just didn’t like the feel of someone touching her while she was wearing those horrid mats. Now she can feel what being petted and stroked should be all about.

  3. I leave my carriers out at all times in the house. My cats are used to lying in them, traveling in them, eating it them. I toss in their favorite toys, but warm bedding down and they aren’t fearful of them. One thing I never do put in a carrier (unless it is warranted for a long trip ) is a litterpan. Most of my cats accept the carrier- it’s the new kids that have the issues usually.

I petted bristol for most of the night and she only tried to bite me twice. She gets over-stimulated if you pet her head for a long period of time. We are still trying to figure each other out. It just takes time.
