The July 3rd arrivals; Sullivan, Willow and Toad went to the vet today and tested out a-ok! I talked to the vet about the possibility of neutering these kittens earlier than usual to increase their chances of finding good homes. He agreed! I have 11 neuters to plan for- he will do them at 3-4 months instead of waiting for 6 months. As soon as I am able to- I will be making appointments for the July 3rd kittens to be neutered. I ALMOST had all three of them into a good home today at the clinic, but when the man called his wife, she said NO_ bummer! They are sweet, social, and loving and this guy wanted ALL of them!

My vets will do mine at three months, three pounds. They used to do them at 2 & 2 but since anesthesia is so hard on kittens (they get so cold), they upped it to 3 & 3 and none have had any problems.
So close to having them all go together. It made me think about people actually seeing the cats. What the rescue group I volunteer with does is arrange with pet shops (actually pet supply shops) to exhibit a cat one saturday a month. We have a big cage and put a likely candidate in there and show him off live to customers. It’s true that none has been adopted through that method, but it shows off the cats and gives people awareness of their availability. I know your time is probably limited (with a group, we have several volunteers who can do this, not just one person) but it may be a way to raise awareness.
Bellen – Our local PetCo puts 2-3 cats in similar cages an adopts out 1-2 cats per week. I’ve considered taking more than one home myself, but I know my current kitties would not adjust well to newcomers.
