A fellow rescuer called me yesterday and while we were talking, I told her about Mamasan and asked her if she wanted another kitty, a pregnant one at that. She was up for the offer, so I took off for her house.
Although we have only talked on the phone a few times and she had been over to my house several times to pick up supplies and stray cats, I had never been to her place. What a great place she has for kitties. She is so far off the road, sitting on ten acres and her home (like mine) is completely set up for Kitty Domination! LOL
Her cats are beautiful, happy and healthy and my mind was put to rest because I had sent some of my resident kitties with her to a home I wasn’t allowed to go to. The owner is quite private, and I was so nervous that I had made a mistake. I have never just up and adopted out cats to homes I don’t inspect beforehand. But she was insistent and so I relented and let Charlie, Everest, Riley and Cole go off on their adoption alone.
It became a bit of struggle to put Mamasan into another carrier, and next to the place where Mamasan would now live- was another calico. I was asking about this sweet girl (as growls of anger and fear from Mamasan were filling the air!) and I was told this one calico was a special needs kitty. Much like our Guinevere, this kitty also crab-crawled across the floor, unable to walk. So before I left- I loaded up this calico with me and she is now here.
I have her set up upstairs and although she is nervous and a bit terrified, she trembles so much, she seems to love to be held. There is something neurological going on with this 2 year old and her walk is more of a run and wobble. She stays low to the ground and rocks back and forth and shakes as she walks. It breaks my heart. I don’t know if she is a CH kitty or a victim of abuse, very little is known about her history.
She will go to the vet tomorrow. I had her in one of the large dog cages but she freaked out- so rather than add more stressors to her, I put her upstairs in her own room. So far she isn’t eating (which is pretty normal for newcomers).
It will be interesting what the vet is going to say about this kitty. I will let you know how it goes.
Tomorrow is going to be a busy one. I have to have Mike at the hospital by 7:00 a.m. His procedures will be about 3 hours long. Then I have to meet with a friend of mine and help her figure out why her male kitty is suddenly fireman of the year and hosing down her walls. She has taken him to several vets and he has had all the necessary tests to rule out UTI. He is also her only cat.
Then I rush home and gather up Bayer (the new black kitty) and No name kitty and take them to the vet.
