Another Obstacle
Huck had to be rushed to the vet this morning and this time, they took x-rays. On the film, it looks like clouds forming around his digestive system and bowel. Four vets looked at it and were all perplexed as to what it is? The final consensus is that it is congenital and he might just be able to deal with it as he grows.
He had a really hard visit. He had the biggest enema a little kitten could get with no return. I can see the impaction as I try to poop him, but it is so large that it just won’t move. I have three days of his new diet KMR and MiraLAX and pumpkin, and if nothing moves, I am to bring him back.
This is so frustrating, because I see what is wrong, I just can’t fix it. I did ask them two questions- wasn’t the substance moving around inside of him just milk? They said no, milk does not look like that on film. You can see a tiny bit of gas in his system as well but nothing alarming. And was he in pain? They said he might be a bit uncomfortable, but he wasn’t in pain. I disagree now because he moaned non-stop for about an hour after we got home. I would moan too, if I had all the invasive procedures he got today.
No more vet visits, the stress alone could kill him. Just going to do the best I can and ask God to stay in control of all I do for him.
There is nothing more frustrating than seeing the problem and not being able to fix it. Poor baby. I know you will do everything you can. You and both kittens are in my prayers! One thing is certain, he’s a fighter. Marian in Houston
Marian, thank you. Mohammed lost his fight a few nights ago. He had a final seizure he could not come back from. He is now over The Bridge. I am sure he loves Mike’s lap!
Last night, mostly out of desperation, I made up a mixture of water and lactulose that I had on hand. Instead of mixing it with the formula, I just gave it to him in a small syringe. He swallowed every drop. Early this morning, the impaction gave way and he pooped, and pooped, and pooped some more. Rankest smelly poop I have every encountered, a pale yellow almost white, but it is moving through his system right now. I celebrated every time when feeding that he pooped all over me. Who cares- he is pooping and that is all that matters!
Yay, Huck pooped! Here’s hoping he continues to eliminate.
Oh joy oh rapture, oh poop poop! To quote (or misquote, knowing me) a classic 🙂
I am sorry about the baby who died but I am also celebrating POOP!!
You guys would have laughed last night. I took him out of his bed to feed him, and I saw that he had poop on his leg. I gently turned him over to see if he had poop anywhere else- and out it squirted! All over the front of my shirt! LOL All I can say is while I celebrated his “accident” I have to say, he had good aim!
The strangest sort of happiness a person can have is when their little animal at last has a poop. Wonderful news. If you couldn’t see him through, no vet could have. And yes, Mike was probably ready to receive Mo with open arms.
