This Princess was dumped on us last night. At first, I thought she was a kitten- but examination of her teeth show her to be older than I initially thought. She is skin and bones, a lovely smoky gray long hair Persian but she is an older cat and as of this morning- her weight is 1 pound 4.5 ounces! So she has either been starved almost to death or she is quite sick. She is such a love- I hope in the morning when I take her in- they will tell me good news about her- but deep within I suspect that won’t happen. If I had to guess her age based on the tarter of her teeth- I would put her at 9-10 years old. 🙁 the most sobering find- the inside of her ears are yellow indicating jaundice.
people suck!
Only a pound and a quarter! Good Heavens. She does look like a kitten, doesn’t she? I’ve not heard much about jaundice in cats. Will it prove dangerous to her?
Just returned from the vet- she tested negative, showed no signs or symptoms of illness. Vet surmises she was either pushed away from the food bowl by others or denied food on a daily basis. She is 10+ years old- yes just over a pound (she is all hair) Gave her an appetite stimulant and when I left her last (at a foster home) she was chowing down on food! I had to get her out of here because the other cats were not helping her out and making her very nervous. Some dear friends of ours stepped up and volunteered to foster her. They only have a tortoise for a pet at this time. We’ll see how she does and if she doesn’t gain weight we will run further bloodwork on her.
Poor baby, sounds like she hit the jackpot though. She deserves good things. I sent monies thru PayPal and am sending many prayers and good wishes. THANK YOU for everything you do.
