Today is National Feral Cat Day. I have one girl who was dumped on us about 2 years ago and she WILL NOT go into a trap to save her life (which I am trying to do) She is so depleted body-wise, she has no teeth and yet she is still here with us and we have rare sightings of her. I have used both types of traps with no luck and can only surmise that she came from some sort of colony and saw a lot of her feline friends trapped and doesn’t want the same.
Encourage all of you if there is a local spay mobile operating in your area this month to give a contribution to the hard-working folks who do this necessary work. In my area, the people who are bringing the cats in don’t give all that much for a donation for a spay and still the neutermobile does it’s best to keep up with the ever-present feral cat population and knock it down.
Hurry for ferals! Kudos to everyone everywhere that helps homeless cats with food, water, shelter and TNR.
Yup, we got a trap-wise old Tom over here. For 2 yrs I’ve been trying to catch him. He laughs, hisses & walks away. One of these days, I’ll give him a ride to the Vet for the full spa treatment. One of these days….
From what you have written in the past, it sounds as though your district, with notable exceptions, is rather unfriendly toward feral cats, and cats in general. It’s good that you are there, though it must be frustrating at times.
Do you ever see this girl with kittens? If so, maybe you could manage to grab a couple of them to use as bait.
We’ve been able to convince a couple momma cats we aren’t evil by playing with their kittens.
MA, you must be Good Luck, cause we caught our hissy old Tom last night!
He is big, feral and wonderful. At the Vet’s today for snip & full Vet treatment. A couple days of caged recovery, lots of good eats and he’ll be released back to his home. Hooray for ferals!
