Grace is back home with me. She did eat for the vet and he was so amazed at how tiny she is. He said in school they just always told him when they are that young to keep them warm- keep them warm- keep them warm. Said she should live in my bra for the next two weeks. But that can’t happen because I am to active and she keeps falling out. So she is here and she has eaten and fallen asleep on the pet disc that is heated.
Does he give me even a 60% chance she will make it? No, he does not. Said if she does to pat myself on the back because so much can take her out at such a young age. I told him if she survives, she survives through God’s grace and not my care-
you are giving her every chance.
Hang in there, Gracie. You got a lot of kitties and beans purrrraying for you.
FWIW, One thing we did for Billie, we had a plastic pop (or similar) bottle filled with water and heated all to heck in the microwave. Put that in a couple of heavy cotton socks, and put it in the cage. The theory is the bottle is shaped so ketteh can cuddle with that kinda like with momma cat. Did it really help? Who knows. Billie always was one tough kitteh, but it he did cuddle with it.
Probably nothing you didn’t already know, but we figured it couldn’t hurt to mention it.
What I decided to do is I have her in a large cat carrier to accomodate the pet heating pad. I took apart a smaller carrier and used the top as an inside cat-port. It sits above the pet heating pad and there is a thin cloth over the pad. I have made a circle around her of small stuffed toys (dog toys) and put snugglekittie in the center so she can have comfort. over the top of the carrier, I draped a towel to trap the heat and put on top of that the heating disc I bought so it can radiate the heat up into the negative space and ultimately warm the carrier up gradually. I must have finally figuered it out to her comfort zone because I put her inside her home about an hour ago and she wiggled around a bit, found a spot and stayed. Trail and error- a bit frustrating for me because I just want her to stick around.
