Star is getting spayed today and the three kittens: Mannix, Kojak and Paris went back for a recheck. Kojak was very accomodating and started leaking out his rear the minute we got to the vet. The vet said the fecal was negative, but he took another smear hoping to find answers. The kittens are now on Neomycin to help overcome the parasite found in their stools. Hopefully this time tomorrow the diarrhea will lessen and they will start feeling better.
Then I came home to an email from a couple who adopted one of my kittens about a month ago- and when I look at this photo, all the worry, stress, concern about the kittens, the mounting vet bills, how I will keep the house together as the kittens grow vanish. This is what makes it all worthwhile!
Maize
I stepped away for a week and missed the request for help. So, here’s a bit for Reece and her kits. And I love that a poopy story ends happily with kids & cats cuddling
AWWWWWWWWW the kitty has a baby to grow up with and to love! so very sweet
I guess the mom didn’t pay attention to the popular myth that cats smother babies! 🙂 Which is so not true and actually started when a house cat was caught licking a baby’s face and tongue. They put the cat down immediately only to find out later, the cat was cleaning the milk off the baby’s face and mouth!
Love the kittie and baby dozing together. In a couple of those photos, it looked like the kittie was guarding the baby, or at least checking to see who was disturbing them.
PS: Is Mannix fattening up a little, or is he still losing ground?
Adorable pictures. That is what your rescue is all about. Very rewarding
Mannix is now gaining weight, but running a temp of 105.8 which is new- he has been pretty subnormal before now. I just gave him fluids
I think cats are protective of babies because they know they are infants, whether human or otherwise, they know they can’t defend themselves. I think dogs are the same. Very nice.
That is one lucky little person. I grew up with a cat and those are my most favorite memories from childhood. It looks like Maize has really bonded to this little one.
