Well- first of all to those wondering. Mr Vic is upstairs to pooped to pop- or is it to popped to poop? At any rate, he is exhausted and he slept the entire ride home in his carrier with the door open. Poor boy.
They did a hemocrit on him- his last one was 14- this one was 20- so he is slowly replenishing his blood. He has only gained 3/4 of a pound though- and his murmur is as strong as ever before. He fought them taking his blood- they are running a CBC and chem panel on him-r esults will be in on Weds. He showed them on the second stick and he peed all over the table and tech- he doesn’t like to be restrained at all. His veins were so weak they did a neck stick on him- and I heard his yowl of protest all the way down the hall.
They gave him an antibiotic shot because he still is sneezing violently. It was sad and funny at the same time- the clinic was crowded so I took a seat beyond the vision range of the girls at the front desk. Vic was sneezing so much that I could hear the girls at the desk go “God Bless You Mary Anne_ (everytime Vic sneezed) As the lobby emptied, I informed the girls who were probably thinking I had brought some sort of flu virus with me that it was Vic sneezing, not me. After that, everytime he sneezed I heard “God Bless you Kitty!”
They gave him some mineral supplements, put him on a special diet and said that until the blood work is in- we won’t really know what we are facing. The possibilities are Vic is a Kidney Kitty, or he might be diabetic, or the anemia left him open for other nasty diseases that are hard to corral and treat. Time will tell.
I had to laugh- when Vic let his pee fly- one of the vet’s was drinking water. She threw the water out of the cup on the floor and flung the cup under Vic and captured urine! LOL Whether or not she is going to drink from that same cup tomorrow morning- even after a long soak and wash is anyone’s guess.
Vic is tired, he is lying in Jordan’s room and I just carried his dinner up to him. He ate just a little bit but he did eat. I told Dr. Steve my concerns and he said to just wait for the lab work to be done. Once we see how his kidneys are doing, his white and red blood cells and his other functions- we will know what we are dealing with. Here’s hoping with time, TLC, prayer and care whatever is ailing him is curable.
Thank you so much for the update! I am so glad he is still in there, swinging!
Whew! I am so glad he is still in the game. I was almost dreading an update. C’mon Vic!
You know we are all holding our breath and thus began with he’s upstairs…I’m so glad. I’m praying for him.

If he fought them that hard .. he will continue fighting 🙂 hopefully its something some meds, love, food and time will take care of
C’mon Vic! You have a lot of people pulling for you and Mary Anne is doing everything in her power to help you get better.
I agree with Butterbean, if he fought them at all, he still has some fight to live still in him.
Yet, we must all be realistic and I keep clinging to the thought that if things don’t turn around, at least Vic has had some weeks of comfort, food and love. Something that unfortunately, a lot of cats don’t have before they run off to the Rainbow Bridge…
It sounds like Vic is slowly, very slowly, recovering, but from what? I hope he continues to improve, at a faster rate, and that the news from his tests are good. He sounds like a fighter. Quick thinking by the technician with her cup!
Vic, da crabby old orange man! Very nice to hear he’s hanging in there. I’ll toss in a bit for his Vet bill.
Looks like Vic is slooowlyyy heading the right direction. For sure, any kittie who can put up that much of a fight at the V*T is not done yet.
Glad to hear he fought them! I don’t understand why it takes so long to get the test results – that’s gotta be frustrating.
It’s a small clinic and they send it out for the results. Some of the bloodwork the hemocrit was spun in the back- but the other takes a bit longer. He is so tired today- although he did move over to Jordan’s room earlier. I think he prefers the rug over the tile- he has more traction on the rug and he can walk better. I know he was skating all over the vet table at the clinic. I ended up just lifting him up while they examined him.
