The Last Burn Pile Kitty

Gabriel has been given a pass! The vet just called and asked that I surrender Gabriel to them and they will treat him with fluids, antibiotics and other measures to see if they can get the diarrhea under control and make him better! And if he does survive, there is a vet tech standing in waiting to give him a new home!

The fecal came back negative. They are keeping him in isolation and treating him with drugs and fluids. If this is indeed an illness and not genetic, then this kitten has a chance to have a long- normal life. Here’s hoping!

  1. Maybe that’s the reason he had a bad spell? So he could meet his new parent(s)???

  2. That is great news. Gabriel get the intense care he needs and you can rest easier knowing he’s in good hands.

  3. That’s wonderful but am confused… I thought I saw a post yesterday (maybe last night) where he went to the angels

  4. Goldie, I dropped him off yesterday believing that they would euthanize him. I did beg them to ask the vets to prove me wrong and if they thought there was a chance for him- to take it as long as he wouldn’t be suffering. Then I blogged about this and they called right after and said the vet wanted to give him a chance. I erased the blog and wrote this new one immediately after hearing the news.

I called this morning and Gabriel is hanging in there. Still has diarrhea they can’t seem to control but is eating and drinking (same as he was here but it wasn’t doing any good

  5. Just checking in. Purrrrrrss for Gabriel.

Have they ruled out intestinal parasites? Or antibiotics messing up intestinal bacteria? They’ve probably already thought about those things, but we figured it couldn’t hurt to mention them. At this point, we’d consider feeding him haggis if we through it would help.

  6. He is still here, still has diarrhea and they are still trying to figure out how to stop the runs and squirts. They just now put him on antibiotics so am not sure the drugs are the reason for the diarrhea (kind of doubt it) With being outside, without mom for God knows how long- it is possible they picked up just a strange strain of bacteria that messed up his system. I have to go to the vet on Monday and I will ask again although I know in most surrenders, you lose the right to ask about the welfare of the cat or kitten surrendered. I am hoping in this case, they make an exception.
