Years ago, Mike and I rescued an abused German Shepherd. Brooke was HUGE over 128 pounds of insecurity and anxiety. When she first arrived here- we tried to put her into a large cage to see how she did. The first time we put her inside a cage it took her 3 nano seconds to bust out of it!
The second time, we braced the cage door closed- went to the store and came home with the kennel in pieces and Brooke chewing on the sofa leg! LOL
The third time, we cable-tied the cage door closed on another larger cage and went out for a few minutes returning to find steel carnage and Brooke eating our carpet!
We figured after that and three purchases of cages, we just best keep her with us.
We kept all the pieces and so a few days ago, I asked Mike to millerize a new cage for the kittens and here is the result. They love it- they have lots to climb up and on and room to run around and the other cats can’t get to them.
ON THE CONTEST NOTE- I did not place 3rd so I did not win- BUT I so appreciate all of you who took time out to vote for my cats. Maybe next time!
Love the 2 story jungle-jim/hidey hole/DIY. But Drat on the No-win! It would have been great to get $ to you by just click-voting. Be sure shout out when it’s time for the next context/internet $ give away, I’ll be happy to click for your kitties.
Hey, Mary Anne – was your blog site down for a while? I tried to check in off and on today (Tuesday) and all I got was a bad (or blocked) web site.
Yes, there was glitch in it but it is fixed now. Thanks for checking in- now get over here and help me bottle feed! LOL
Glad your site is back up. Whatever happened to Brooke?
Marian in Houston
I noticed the blocked site, too. I’m glad you are back. Let us know when another contest is looming and I for one will be ready to vote.
Brooke was rehomed with a forest ranger and he takes her everywhere. She is doing so good there- he never puts her in a cage and they do a major amount of hiking in his job. I saw her about a year ago and she about jumped out of the truck to say hello to me. Thankfully, they were parked at a grocery store. But it was nice that she remembered me and even though she trashed hundreds of dollars of dog cages, we never reprimanded her. She came here with demons and now- with her new owner Jack, her demons are no more.
Hey, if we were closer, we wouldn’t mind that a bit. Course, not sure how we’d react if we got a kitteh who wasn’t making it. (not well, probably)
Glad Brooke found a furrrever home that suited her.
