Cyclone’s room didn’t stay empty long-

This afternoon I got a call from a lady who had some cats dumped on her place. She said she was going to keep one of them but the female is a long-hair and hubby is allergic. Said the cat follows her husband all over the yard and poor man just gets stuffed up and that is outside! I had met this woman before where she showed me an incredible act of kindness at a local business so I told her I would come and get the kitty.

This kitty is a senior kitty. She looks a lot like our Kabota (may he rest in peace) But she has been outside so long that her whole body is one mess of matted hair! I took her to the vet where she tested negative, they dewormed and deflead her and then tried to shave her. I also discovered during that visit that this beautiful girl has been front-paw declawed and one of her claws is starting to come back causing her pain and the inablity to walk very well on that foot.

I am calling her Bristol and she is not a happy camper. They tried to shave her- but she would have none of it- so I had to make an appointment to get her shaved on Weds when they will have to SEDATE her to get her matt-free! Poor kitty- I did borrow a friend’s camera to take photos of her and as soon as I get them from Dee- I will post them here.

Looks like she will probably be a long-term resident here and live in Cyclone’s pad. I doubt I will find anyone who wants to adopt a 9-10 year old girl with a botched declaw and other issues.

I was petting her (even though she was growling at me) and I told her I was sorry someone thought so little of her that they got her claws removed and then tossed her outside for whatever reason.

But she is gorgeous and I hope in a few days she will settle down and know she is safe-

  1. I’ve been following your blog and really admire the work that you do for these cats.. Thank you for your hard work. I was wondering if your organization had a wish list for products or food needed for the cats that your are taking care of?

  2. Linda-
Some time ago, I tried to figure out Amazon.com’s wish list system but never seemed to “get it” and finally just gave up. If I had a wish list there it would be for dry and canned food (which they don’t carry) cat furniture (always need that to keep the alphas off the floor and lessen the stress here. felinefurniture.com has the best cat furniture around in my opinion. I can always use money for the vet debt, stall dry (which is what I use for cat litter) and just the general upkeep of the place around here; cleaning supplies- gas money for adoptions, meds for the kitties, flea treatments etc.. I go through a ton of blankets, cloth diapers, rubber sheets, rugs and other things used to line carriers and cages. I can always use cat carriers- and I haunt the thrift shops looking for them.

I just fly by the seat of my pants with this and being non-profit does help a bit. There will be a sort of fundraiser soon on another website for a custom made pet fountain the the artist will donate all proceeds of the sale to my cat sanctuary-

That’s pretty much it and thank you for asking-
