We Interrupt the Cyclone Project…

To adopt out McGee to a new, loving family! It breaks my heart to leave cats in new places especially when they are so scared, and poor boy, he was terrified. I am hopeful in a few days, he will be able to relax and find his new mommy as delightful as he found me to be. I will miss him- but I know this is the right thing for him.

Here he is as a kitten-

  1. It is frightening for a cat to lose everything he knows and trusts. Yet this is how a life-time of joy and security begins. Some cats take a long time to learn this, but they do and then it’s as though they were always there. I have two very timid cats who especially felt the world turn upside down when they came to live with me. But now my world is theirs and vice versa. With care and attention, they always come around, as you see every day in your work.

  2. His new mom called last night, he isn’t eating or using the litter pan and has been hiding under the blanket I left for him since I left him there. She said that she has gone in and talked with him and petted him under the blanket. She put a new blanket in with him and now he is hiding under that. He also came out to dive under her knees when she was sitting on the floor, something he did with me when he was scared. I am hopeful he will eat today and would appreciate prayers on that. She isn’t ready to give up on him (like the last adopter gave up on Dillon) and so I am hopeful this will still work. She just lost her 15 year old to FHL and so she is scared McGee won’t eat. I gave her some tips on how to jump-start his appetite and hope it helps.

  3. Purrrrrring that McGee calms down and starts eating soonest.

A couple times we started a kittie eating by the straightforward approach of getting some little chunks of chicken and just pushing a couple down the kitties throat, almost like a pill. We doubt McGee is to that point yet, but that might be something to keep in the back of your mind.
