This little girl was left intentionally on a cold cement floor to die, because it kept “crying” and the woman wanted to hit it in the head- sigh….
It was rescued by a kindly neighbor who is trying to save this tiny life and she stumbled across my kitten-rescue website and emailed me.
Such a tiny life to be so compromised by an evil woman. I hope she makes it- the woman she is with now is loving and caring and doing all she can to have that happen.
Sometimes you just gotta sit back and “damn!”.
Purrrrring that this little kitteh survives. How old is it? Any ideas?
Of course you know I want to go find this evil woman and throw her on the cold hard floor!! People like that make me crazy!
Well, I’m the one looking after the kitty. To be honest, I think the woman thought he was injured and I went up to see as I would have done the deed if necessary as I can’t leave an animal to suffer. Most people aren’t capable of doing it, I see it as compassion (an I’m vegan). When I realised that he was in fact ok (as far as I could see) there was no question about knocking him on the head so I took him/her home and so far it is going well 🙂 Kitty calling, got to feed!
I just tried to save 2 of 5 kittens just born to a young new mother, a ferral in the area and an unexperienced mother. I wish SO MUCH that I could have saved them. I fell in love with the little boy who, at just days old, purred every time I picked him up. I’m still crying over that one. Then I see this – I said it before and I’ll say it again, these people are the SCUM of the earth.

P.S. That sure is a beautiful baby she’s feeding. Thank Goodness it was saved! And thanks for letting me vent to other cat people!
Jo, thanks for the better update. I am glad she is signaling you when she is hungry too! That is a very good sign. Coffee is my best friend during kitten season- LOL And sleep- who needs it?
Our prayers are with Jo and the little fellow. Thank you so much for caring.
Two of my kitties were abandoned the day they were born – left in a cardboard box in a parking lot by some horrible person. Bottle feeding is a lot of work, but so worth it! Love & purrs to Jo and the baby!
Brings to mind another story…I got a call about 20 years ago saying that a neighbor of someone I know had been given 2 Maine Coon kittens that he did not want. The neighbor left them in the summer heat, on concrete, with no food or water, and kicked them when they cried. I was informed the neighbor was not home at the time, so I went right over and “liberated” them. They lived long, happy lives with my mom.
This has been an eventful week for us. Socks, the dumped-off tabby we met Monday morning came home to us Wednesday, having been neutered and immunized and wormed. He was his usual energetic self and the vet had told us Socks could go right back outside. Bad idea. Thursday morning we discovered that he had been shot by someone overnight! Luckily the bullet entered his body at an angle, grazing his ribs and exiting at his shoulder, slashing the top of his front leg. He had a “sucking” side-of-the-chest wound, everytime he would inhale, air would come out of his upper chest. We applied a compression bandage and rushed him to a vet — our vet was not in the office, so we had to take Socks to a vet in the next nearest town 30 miles away. After x-rays, cleaning of the wounds, antibiotics, anesthesia — about $600 — Socks is now back “home” to recuperate and then we’ll try to find him a “forever” home.
Needless to say we are appalled that anyone would shoot a cat. Socks is so friendly that he probably walked right up to his assailant, purring, and wanting to be petted. He’s still friendly, energetic, and good-natured — hope we can find him a good home, but, if we can’t, we’ll just have to keep him — as a totally inside cat.
Hope all of you are doing well and that your rescues have as happy an ending as this one.
Glad to hear the baby is eating!
Purrrrring for Socks and the kitten. We hope they both have long and well loved lives ahead of them.
My comment is two fold – first is I am glad the baby is doing ok and hopefully still is. It’s a beautiful kitten and obviously the person who thought the kitten was ill had no idea what to so. Those are the kind of folks who should never have pets.
The second part of this comment is directed at “jo” the lady who actually is now caring for the kitten. I am glad you took the baby and are feeding it and caring for it. The innocent is just that, very innocent and already traumatized. Anything you can do to provide a normal life for him/her is great. The disturbing part of this story is that you would actually “knock” this kitten in the head if it was ill. I realize we don’t all have money (I don’t and you probably don’t either) but heavens… you would actually kill this kitten?? Then to mention you are a vegan, like that gives you some kind of extra special right to put a kitten out of its supposed misery. WTF? Would you actually know if the baby was sick or not? What if it was temporary? I am not picking on you because you are a non-meating eating person. I am calling you out because as a non-meat eater myself and a celiac as well which is doubly challenging, I am find your sense of “god” like choices really out of line.
I truly hope you are joking about it, although it’s kind of revolting to think about laughing about killing a kitten. It’s sort of a catch 22 here.. you are saving the kitten now, but without a veterinarian to look at this tiny one, amd you alone making a determination of whether this kitten should live or die, I am really worried.
I am sure I am not making any friends here. REplies?
I think the above poster needs to know that this woman lives in Norway. I am unsure of the availablity of vets in the area where she lives. But honestly, if the kitten was suffering and there was no vet in the area, the kindest thing to do would be to dispatch the kitten quickly to get it out of its misery. The kitten was found in the wee hours of the morning and was stone-cold from the conditions it was in. This woman warmed this kitten up the right way (gradually) had she done it any quicker the organs would have shut down and the kitten would have died a horrible death. As it stands now, the kitten is still not out of the woods, not by a long-shot but at least it has a chance. Perhaps her comments were taken in a wrong way because of language barriers- but who is to know?
Thanks for providing a bit more information, particularly about potential veterinary care. That gives me a greater understanding. And you are probably right that there may be some language barrier as well.
I pray for the best outcome for the Norway rescue lady and her kitten.
